They have been in biz 30 yrs. I've been coming here off and on for 27 yrs.
i've had some not so good experiences throughout the decades but the one thing that never never lets me down is the Mr. Serious with carnitas and everything except beans. Black beans on the side always. They changed bean recipes sometime a decade ago - Hate the pintos they do now. But the black beans are really good. Just on the side in case of a bad batch... happens to the best of cooks sometimes.
Burrito lasts a good five meals. Lnch Din Bkfst Lnch Din - kinda that good. -

This is my 500th review and it couldn't be more appropriate than to post this review of a SoCal Mexican food restaurant. It's a small hole-in-the-wall situated in a strip mall in a tight spaced parking lot. The parking here can be atrocious during peak hours with very limited parking and tight maneuvering in and out of the lot. It's nestled on the corner of a very busy intersection (17th and Irvine blvd).
Today I decided to go with something basic and simple, a pollo asada chicken burrito with light pinto beans, medium spicy salsa and cheese. The burrito was very good and filling.
I was eyeing the steak for the next time I decide to stop in a grab another burrito.
The best time to stop in is for an early lunch (1030-11) or off peak afternoon hours. -

Two stars because the burrito was good but the service was rude. I called my order in and spoke to a lady and told her my whole order and asked for the total and she hands the phone to her co-worker (a guy) an I had to tell my whole order over again, I asked for my total and he had me on hold for at least 5 minutes. He gives total but never said how long it was going to take and he hangs up. I try calling back on one of their phones and the LADY answers again I asked how long my order was going to take and she hangs up the phone!! I call back and it goes straight to Voicemail but they don't have it set up or either it was full...SO I try calling their second phone line and it's BUSY!! I had to call from a different phone for them to answer. This time the guy answers and I asked about my order then he repeated my order back wrong! I finally go up there to pick up my order and as soon as I said I was the one on the phone the lady's whole demeanor changed and was completely rude with me. I asked how much an item was on my order and she proceeded to say she didn't know and points at the register rudely and insisted that I pay it all together! I asked if I could pay for a side item separate because it was for a co-worker and she got mad and says something in Spanish to her co-worker because I didn't specify on the phone. I said "I apologize, if it's such a big deal I'll pay altogether" but she separated the orders anyway. (Now if it wasn't a big deal why did you make it a big deal with your rudeness) at the end of my services I told her have a WONDERFUL BLESSED DAY!!

When the sign says they're open until 9 p.m....
When you arrive by 8:45 p.m....
When you notice that all of the food has been put to bed for the night...
And staff say they're open for "to go" orders only...
What should you do?
It sounds like one of those trick questions on the SAT but really, there's only one answer: Walk back out that door empty handed.
One of my sons has taken a liking to Los Primos' Carnitas Torta. I sampled a bite and understand the appeal. It tastes like a future heart-attack. When you're 25, fine, but this has no place in my life. It tasted both good and incredibly fatty which isn't a bad thing. I wouldn't order it, but I understood the appeal.
The remainder of our to go order was 4 carne asada tacos (enormous, but the meat quality was very meh; much gristle was spit into a napkin), and a huge, sloppily wrapped California Burrito with cold protein (pollo).
Did I mention that the staff here is nice? They are, but what would've been nicer was if they'd said, honestly, "I'm sorry, but we closed a bit early. Please come back and see us another day".
I'm uncertain that I had the optimal Los Primas experience but I learned enough to know that a return visit is highly unlikely. Not since my experience at NYC's Halal Guys have I consumed something that left me so sure I'd clogged an artery. Los Primos' offerings left me feeling like I'd eaten massively unhealthy Mexican fare. -

This place gives you a lot of bang for your buck. But it lacks actual flavor and the food is always so wet that halfway through the burrito it always falls apart. I've been here three times thinking it'll be different but it always disappoints. But their service is fast, so that deserves at least a star.
